BrainStorm

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I upgraded to Matlab 7, and BrainStorm GUI controls look terrible.

A: This has been verified as a bug in MATLAB 7.0 (R14) in the way pushbuttons and toggle buttons are displayed on Windows machines when the screen display theme is set to Windows XP. Check Mathwork support here for details on the suggested solutions:

1) Copy the file java.opts to your MATLAB startup directory or $MATLAB\bin\win32 directory (where $MATLAB is the MATLAB root directory on your machine, as returned by typing matlabroot at the MATLAB command prompt.)

2) Alternatively, set the screen display to Windows Classic style. Here is how to do this:
a. Right click on the desktop and select Properties
b. Select the Appearance tab
c. Under Windows and buttons, select Windows Classic style from the drop-down menu.

Q: Where should I store my personal and edited BrainStorm m-files.

A: See also the BrainStorm Matlab Help Menu: “Updating / Editing BrainStorm”. This will display the following information and also take you to the BrainStorm Download web page.

We recommend that you adhere to the following approaches to editing any files in BrainStorm, as well as updating with each new copy.

Q: Are there any reserved words?

A: Your data should not include the following words, because they have a special meaning in BrainStorm:
