Source Simulator
Source simulator is used for realistic simulations. Surface and/or volume sources can be simulated using this tool with different types of input signals. See the tutorial Data Simulation for an example.
SOURCE PROPERTIES
| Type |
Type of the input signal. Currently available types:
- Gauss: Gaussian Input. Mean and variance are specified by Center and Width properties.
- Sin:Sinusoidal Input. Number of cycles for the Duration is controlled by Frequency property.
- Box: Uniform input. Start and end points for the distribution over the Duration is controlled by Center and Width properties.
- Constant: Constant input over the whole Duration.
|
| Location (x,y,z) |
Display the x, y, z coordinates of the source that is specified in Source List in Sources section. |
| Amplitude |
Maximum allowable amplitude for the specified Type. |
| Duration [ms] |
Duration of the signal specified in ms. |
| Center [ms] |
Required for input types Gauss and Box indicating the mean of the gaussian or uniform distribution. |
| Width [ms] |
Required for input types Gauss and Box indicating the variance of the gaussian distribution or the width of the uniform distribution. |
| Frequency [Hz] |
Required for input types Sin to control the number of cycles. NoC = Duration / (1000/Frequency) . Hint: Realize that the unit of Frequency is Hz where as the unit of Duration is ms. |
| Amplitude (%) of max |
Percentage of the maximum amplitude of the signal to specify the noise variance. |
| Type |
Type of the noise. Currently available types are Gaussian white noise and uniform noise. |
SOURCE TYPE
| Head Model |
Select one of the head models available to make the simulation for. |
| Source Type |
Select the type of the source you want: Surface or Volume source. Surface source is picked on the surface that is selected among the surfaces available (use the Surface drop down menu under the Surface Source check box to specify the surface you want to simulate the source on). Volume source is selected on the MRI volume that is associated with the current brainstorm subject. |
| Surface |
Shows the available surfaces for the current subject. Select the one you want to simulate a surface source on. |
| Orientation |
Required only if a volume source is simulated. Show the x, y, z components of the orientation of the volume source. |
| Plot |
Used to plot the Surface. Location for a surface source can only be specified using this plot. |
| Patch +/- |
After selecting the location for the source on the surface, press +/- buttons to increase/decrease the size of the patch. |
SOURCES
| Source List |
List of the sources to be simulated. |
| Add Source |
Click to add the specified source. Make sure that all required variables for input signal in the Source Properties section are stated.
For a Surface Source also make sure that the location is already selected using Plot button.
For a Volume Source make sure that the orientation is specified. Location for the Volume Source is selected on the MRI volume which is to be plotted on MRI Tool that opens after you click Add Source button.
|
| Delete Source |
Click to delete the source that is selected in the Source List. |
| Simulate |
Click to simulate the sources. Make sure to name the simulation as *data.mat in save simulated data window to be able to import it to BrainStorm later, and name parameters of the simulation in save simulation parameters window. You may examine the location and properties of the source(s) using the these .mat files at any time. |
