Can I measure EEG sensor locations in a given subject's MRI volume

Dear Francois,

I recorded the EEG and fMRI in the same time. I want to calculated the ERP component source localization, for comparing with fMRI results. I think the sensor locations must be accurate before calculating the ERP source.

Please see the attached picture. It seem that I need to adjust the sensor location according to the MRI artifacts. Is that an easy way to do that? Also, please give me some advice to integrate ERP and fMRI results.

Hello,

You can edit the position the electrodes using the MRI viewer. Right-click on the channel file > Display sensors > EEG (MRI Viewer).
In the MRI Viewer, you can position the cursor on one electrode, right-click > Electrodes > Set electrode position, and set the electrode name (select the option “MIP: functional” for seeing all the electrodes in transparency).

You can also change the position of the electrodes on the surface: right-click on the channel file > MRI registration > Edit, then click on the button “Move an electrode”. But you won’t be able to put the electrodes “inside” the little bumps on the head surface.

For the analysis of the recordings, you can refer to all the new introduction tutorials and the EEG/Epilepsy tutorial (I’m currently updating it):

I’m not sure how the OpenMEEG BEM computation behaves with all these little bumps on the head surface, you’ll have to use these tools carefully.

Cheers,
Francois
