From Jan 2022, normalized values for PTE (i.e., dPTE) in Brainstorm are computed as described in Hillebrand et al., 2016 . Check this other post:

Phase transfer entropy was introduced by Lobier et al., 2014, with this definition. PTE cannot be negative and its magnitude does not have a meaningful upper bound. Indeed, this is the code we used to compute dPTE: PhaseTE_MF.m.

how should this discrepancy in values between Brainstorm output and the Hillebrand et al., 2016 citation be interpreted?

Could these discrepancies be caused by the pre-processing of the data?
