Export to gifti files = bad results

Dear François,

I work on EEG source reconstruction with MRI and I used Brainstorm for one algorithm and SPM12 for another algorithm. In order to compare their results, I must have the same mesh (in the native space) in the two software.

I do the segmentation with CAT12 in SPM12 and in order to merge the two surfaces files hemispheres, I import the surfaces in brainstorm. When I want to re-export this merge surface file in gifti file, the result is not good at all, see image below :

The surface does not match the MRI of the subject anymore.
Do you have an idea to recover this surface file correctly and to re-match the subject MRI ?

Thank you in advance for your response,
Gaelle

Changing the coordinate system between different environments and file formats is a nightmare.
We worked on making a few cases work in a robust way, for example:

  • Importing from CAT/FreeSurfer/BrainSuite to Brainstorm
  • Exporting from Brainstorm to SPM as .gii
If you notice any error in one of the workflows documented in the online tutorials, please let us know.

Otherwise, I'm sorry we won't have the necessary resource to provide support for custom scripts going back and forth between environments.
