Extracting scout time series

Hello,

I am doing some region of interest analysis of MEG data. I want to extract for each subject the time series of the scouts I have defined, with the sign flipping option implemented in Brainstorm.
After computing the sources using the individual anatomy, I project them to the default anatomy and that’s when I extract the time series of the scouts. I was wondering whether it would be better to create a specific scout for each subject and extract the corresponding time series without having projected the sources to the default anatomy. Do you have any advice on this?

Thank you in advance!
Mariana

Hi Mariana,

Both approaches are possible, it depends on your hypotheses and the way you define your ROIs.
The first one (what you have done so far) is easier, you only have one region to define and you do not have to make sure that the regions are matching between subjects.

If you suspect that the regions you are interested in are not matching anatomically across subjects, or if you prefer defining them based on the data rather than on a priori anatomical information, then it makes sense to extract the scouts time series for each subject separately.

Cheers,
Francois
