Migration of Brainstorm files/folders from a PC to another

Dear Francois,

I am thinking of switching Brainstorm PC to another with more memory. I already have protocol files and data files in various network locations, which I want to keep working on. Can we just copy the protocol files to new PC? Please let me know what I should I keep in mind to make a migration.

The reason why I want to change PC is crushing of Open MEEG due to ‘too small’ memory. OM crushes only for some subjects even when the memory I currently have is more than the memory estimation shown in the OM options. At this moment, I cannot tell the systematicity across the crush. If you have any idea, please let me know, as well.

Chie

also would moving files from a Windows to Linux PC still work the same way?

chienakatani, I just tried this, all you have to do is transfer your brainstorm_db folder and then when it asks you to chose a database folder on your new computer, point to the brainstorm_db folder that you copied. Also in terms of transferring files between two different OS the procedure is the same, I didn’t encounter any trouble.

Hi Chie,

You can find information about moving protocols to a new folder or a new computer in this thread:
http://neuroimage.usc.edu/forums/showthread.php?1691-how-to-move-entire-protocol-and-its-files-to-another-disk-or-folder

About OpenMEEG: if it works for some subjects and not for others, it is probably not a memory error.
If you have errors with this program, please report the full error messages to its developers (mailing list or github issue).

PS: switching between operating system (eg. from windows to linux) shouldn’t be a problem.

Dear Killa7 an dFrancoise,

Thank you for letting me know. Copying brainstorm_db worked. Thanks again!

As for the OpenMEEG problem, I will check a few more things and report to the OM developers.
