Hi there,
I'm relatively new to Brainstorm, so I'm not sure if this will pose problems to other users like it did with me. Basically, I noticed that the tutorial only provides coordinates for 3/6 necessary fiducials: NAS, LPA and RPA, as shown here:
Like I said, this might just be me, but I was unable to load the volumes and surfaces using only these 3 fiducial points. Luckily, I managed to find a jpeg file somewhere in 'sample_resting.zip' containing all 6 fiducials. As soon as I inputted all 6 of them and saved the changes the volumes and surfaces loaded automatically.
I think it would be a good idea to change the text in the tutorial so that other people don't encounter this problem. Since I have them at hand, I'll just leave the coordinates for the other fiducials here on this thread:
AC: 132 138 153
PC: 132 109 150
IH: 134 113 217
Hope this helps!
Thanks for reporting this problem in the documentation. When you compute the MNI transformation, it provides default positions for all the 6 fiducials, and only 3 need to be edited manually to reproduce the results presented in this tutorial (NAS,LPA,RPA), the three others (AC,PC,IH) are not used much anymore except for orienting the display.
I modified the text of the tutorials to make it more explicit:
In the MRI Viewer, click on "Click here to compute MNI transformation".
Fix the 3 fiducial points needed for MEG-MRI coregistration (indicated in MRI coordinates):
- NAS: x=128, y=225, z=135
- LPA: x=54, y=115, z=107
- RPA: x=204, y=115, z=99
If you are new to Brainstorm, this tutorial is not a good starting point, it is not designed to teach the basic use of Brainstorm. At the beginning, it indicates in the requirements: "You have already followed all the basic tutorials".
We recommend you start by following all the introduction tutorials in the section "Get started" using the example datasets, then read advanced tutorials related with your field of interest.
