NIRSTORM / ERROR - MBLL - raw to delta [HBO], [HbR] & [HbT]

Hello everyone,

I corrected my .nirs file for movement artifacts using TDDR and then i wanted to convert resulting data into concentration data as explained in the NIRS finger tapping tutorial.

But, when using "NIRS --> dOD and MBLL --> MBLL - raw to delta [HBO], [HbR] & [HbT]", i have the following error :

What should i do ?

I tried to work on the equivalent .snirf file but it blocked at the bad channels tagging step with QT NIRS giving an error window.

Best regards,
Brieuc

@edelaire, can your take a look?

Hello.

Thanks for your interest in nirstorm.
Could you share the nirs file with me so i can run some test ?

Edouard

Hello Edouard,

Where can i send you the files ?

Thank you very much for your help,
Brieuc

hello.

Thx i got the file from your previous message. @Raymundo.Cassani could you delete the post with the link to the data ?

I was able to reproduce the issue. i will need to do some test to figure out what is wrong. hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow or monday.

HS/ i noticed that the coordinate of the nirs optodes seems wrong when opening the .snirf file in comparison to the .nirs file. it important for nirstorm that the distance between the source and detector is correct when applying the MBLL.

a small note not related to the main issue: we recommend more to apply the motion correction after having converted the data to optical density (delta OD) rather than on the raw light intensity. SO you can do raw to delta OD -> motion correction, filtering, ... > OD to concentration or raw to concentration -> motion correction, filtering.

i have seen that it was providing better result than applying motion correction on the raw data.

So the issue was the the wavelength stored in the nirs file were not integer (760.5 and 842.5) instead of 761 and 843.

I pushed the following commit [bugfix] Ensure that wavelength are integer by Edouard2laire · Pull Request #745 · brainstorm-tools/brainstorm3 · GitHub to ensure that the wavelentgh is an integer during the data importation. We have to wait for Raymundo to merge it. then you will be able to update Brainstorm and try again

@Raymundo.Cassani there is a small visualization issue still. When reviwewing the signal, the legend shows two times 761 instead of 761, 843:

Hs: what system are you using to record nirs ? the data are very clean.

Hello Edouard ! Thank you so much for the support provided

Is it normal that the signal window does not look like yours ? My events are displayed at top and i could not find a way to display all of the signal like you did (all channels but with visible heart beats), i can only do it in the butterfly mode.

HS : I'm using 2 systems from Artinis, Brite MKII and Brite MKIII, one system on each hemisphere
note : I previously inspected the signal in matlab so i knew that i could try NIRSTORM on these data

ok. The issue should be fixed. You can update brainstorm and nirstorm and import your data again.

When you import data, make sure you use the button 'Review raw file'.

When you open the file, make sure to select the montage called 'nirs overlay':
