PAC and spikes bias

Dear Developers,

Would PAC (mean vector length) be biased by spikes during an epileptic seizure? Or is it reliable to compare interictal epochs without spikes to epileptic periods?

if the spikes are coupled with slower waves, then yes, PAC would reflect that.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but do you mean by this that I can reliably run PAC on ictal epochs?

I meant to say that if spikes are coupled to slow waves, PAC would be biased by these powerful signals. It depends on your study question: are you interested in spikes or background activity?

I would like to compare ictal periods.
