Plans to incorporate DCM?

Dear Brainstorm developers,

Are there any plans for incorporating Dynamic Causal Modeling analyses in Brainstorm (specifically for EEG) in the future?

Thanks,

Fran

Hi @FranLop89,

Thanks for reaching out.

We currently don’t have specific plans to implement Dynamic Causal Modeling (DCM) in Brainstorm, as our development efforts are focused on other priorities at the moment. However, if you’re interested in integrating DCM methods, it is possible to do so through custom scripting.

You can refer to our scripting tutorials to learn how to develop and embed custom processes in Brainstorm.

We’d be happy to provide some support if you choose to go this route. You can find this GitHub repository useful for community-contributed extensions and examples:

Best regards,

To briefly add to the discussion: you can use brainstorm to map brain source time series from MEG/EEG data and export them to SPM, where you can run DCM.

Thank you both. I ran into some compatibility issues last time I tried to import MEG/EEG data from Brainstorm into SPM, specially to make them compatible with DCM data structure requirements. I ended up re-analizing all EEG/MEG data from scratch in SPM. So I was just curious as to whether DCM analyses will ever be implemented in Brainstorm directly. I completely understand if it is not a priority at the moment, but hope you consider it for the future!

Thanks again
