When starting up Brainstorm I get following lines in the command window :
ERROR : JOGL not supported
BST> Starting Brainstorm:
BST> ====================
BST> Version 3.2.140522 (22-May-2014)
BST> Checking internet connectivity…
Then the program hangs.
I have internet connection on this computer.
Can someone help me?
Hello,
Are you running Brainstorm from Matlab or are you using the compiled version with the MCR?
If you are running Matlab, can you please copy-paste the result of the “ver” command in the Matlab command window?
If not, please describe what version of the MCR you are running and what operating system.
Thanks,
Francois

Hello,
It could be that Matlab 2008a is not distributed with the JOGL library on windows vista.
I don’t have access a older windows system right now, but I will test this in two weeks.
In the meantime, I tried to make the brainstorm startup code more robust in the case where the JOGL library is not available.
It only used for displaying the connectivity graphs, everything else should work fine without it.
Please update Brainstorm (menu Help > Update Brainstorm) and let me know if you can at least start the software.
Cheers,
Francois
Hello,
Updating Brainstorm didn’t solve the problem. When I start Brainstorm I get following message :
When starting up Brainstorm I get following lines in the command window :
ERROR : JOGL not supported
BST> Starting Brainstorm:
BST> ====================
BST> Version 3.2.140522 (22-May-2014)
BST> Checking internet connectivity…
then the splash screen from Brainstorm appears, the matlab window becomes gray and the system hangs.
The I screen (windows) appears telling that a error has occured en MatlaB will be closed.
I can not start Matlab again, I have to restart the computer before I can start Matlab again.
Onthe desktop I get following log file :
hs_err_pid3624.log in attachment
Hello,
Ok, the error log helped me understand where the problem is coming from.
It is actually not related with Brainstorm but with the Java/Matlab environment. Sadly Windows Vista is know for not being a very stable system, maybe this is one of the problems.
I’m not sure there is much I can do to help you solving this problem.
At this point I would suggest three options:
- Get a newer Matlab version
- Run the compiled version of Brainstorm instead (see the Installation page on the website for instructions)
- Upgrade your system to Windows 7
Cheers,
Francois
