Requesting for data

Dear Francois,

I am working on a new idea for which I need MEG rest data for generating simulation data and also real MEG data for evaluation of understudy methods in real circumstances.

I found the two following dataset which are appropriate for my purposes:

  1. MEG resting state and phase-amplitude coupling
    (https://neuroimage.usc.edu/brainstorm/Tutorials/Resting)

  2. MEG median nerve tutorial (CTF)
    (https://neuroimage.usc.edu/brainstorm/Tutorials/MedianNerveCtf)

However, using of these dataset needs written consent. What should I do to be able to employ those dataset for my paper?

If I do the following tasks, I can use these dataset?

  1. Cite the brainstorm as follows:
    ++ BrainStorm, Matlab Toolbox. (2019). [Online]. Available: http://neuroimage.usc.edu/brainstorm.
    ++ F. Tadel, S. Baillet, J. C. Mosher, D. Pantazis, R. M. Leahy, “Brainstorm: a user-friendly application for MEG/EEG analysis,” Computational intelligence and neuroscience, vol. 2011, Jan. 2011.

  2. Acknowledge as follows:
    The authors would like to acknowledge Elizabeth Bock, Esther Florin, Peter Donhauser, Francois Tadel and Sylvain Baillet from McGill University for providing the rest and median nerve MEG dataset.

  3. Mentioning in the paper that using these dataset for research purpose needs written consent from the MEG Lab

I am thankful for your time and response.
Talesh,

Dear Talesh,

This looks good to me. Citing the 2011 article (1) and aknowledging the authors of the dataset (2) is sufficient, no need to mention that you need an agreement to exchange data.
Additionally, if you have enough space, you could add the URLs of the tutorial pages corresponding to these datasets (they contain everything: license, full data description...)

@Sylvain Do you confirm?

Best wishes
François

Thank you dear Francois,

I want to send my paper to NeuroImage or TBME journal. If they give me enough space, I add the addresses of tutorials in the paper; else I add those in Supplementary file.

Thanks a lot,
Talesh
