Location: HUN-REN Research Centre for Natural Sciences (TTK), Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology (KPI), Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology Research Group, Budapest, Hungary.

About the Role
We are looking for a computational researcher or data scientist (background in physics, mathematics, bioinformatics, or a related field) to design and implement advanced analytical frameworks for complex human datasets.
This role is best suited for someone who thinks in systems: an “architect” of data pipelines and models, responsible for developing analytical pipelines and models, critically evaluating existing approaches, and supporting their implementation across projects.
You will contribute to research at the interface of clinical psychology, developmental neuroscience, and computational modeling, working with large-scale, methodologically rich datasets.
Note on qualifications: An MSc or PhD is an advantage, but we prioritize demonstrated technical expertise, modeling competence, and code quality over formal credentials.

Data & Technical Environment
You will work with large-scale datasets (both international and national secondary databases and our own ongoing data collection). Modalities include:
• Neuroimaging & Physiology: resting-state and task fMRI, resting-state and task EEG, along with DTI and structural MRI; eye-tracking
• Biological Markers: genetic and hormonal variables
• Behavioral Data: complex cognitive testing and clinical questionnaires

Key Responsibilities
• Coding and Development: Designing and implementing custom analysis pipelines and algorithms (Python/R)
• Pipeline & Data Integration: Developing pipelines for and working with high-dimensional, multi-modal datasets
• Methodological Leadership: Providing methodological expertise and collaborating with researchers on modeling, analysis, and pipeline implementation

Opportunities
• Modeling: Opportunity to develop statistical and machine learning models (predictive and explanatory), with attention to robustness, generalizability, and interpretability
• Advanced Methods: Opportunity to apply deep learning and other advanced analytical approaches

Requirements & Skills
• Strong Quantitative Background: Training or experience in physics, mathematics, bioinformatics, or computer science
• Coding Mastery: High-level programming skills and experience handling large, heterogeneous datasets
• Collaborative Mindset: Openness to transdisciplinary work, bridging the gap between computational sciences and human psychology

Publication & Professional Focus
We recognize that top-tier talent has different career priorities.
• The "Developer" Path: If your primary motivation is building algorithms and high-quality code, we provide the technical freedom and environment to focus on development and infrastructure
• The "Academic" Path: If you wish to build an academic career, we offer full support in the publication process Publication is supported but not required. We value the work behind the science as much as the paper itself.

Gross monthly salary: 500,000–800,000 HUF/month (part-time)
We are open to both full- and part-time employment. Exact compensation will be determined individually, taking into account the applicant’s experience, expertise level, and performance. The advertised range serves as a general indication.

How to Apply
To apply, please send to bunford.nora@ttk.hu:
• CV
• A brief cover letter highlighting your experience and interests
• Contact information for references
• A link to your GitHub (or a portfolio of your work)
