Hello there! I have recently asked and gone through the process of moving my brainstorm db backup folder to a shared drive (we use BOX in our lab), which has helped with IRB concerns about personal data being saved to my laptop. In line with this, everything has been now correctly uploaded to box and automatically is updated. That being said, can i now delete the primary folder? I am quickly running out of space on my personal computer, and I would rather it stay that--personal. I don't want to lose all of my storage space just by running things for work on my computer, especially when all of this data is saved to the cloud anyways.
Before deleting your primary folder, you may want to run a test to verify the database in the shared drive works well. To do so:
-
Open Brainstorm, and selected a protocol that is in the primary folder, e.g. ProtocolA
-
Go to File > Delete protocol > Only detach from database
This will not delete the folder from the primary folder. -
Go to File > Load protocol > Load from folder and select the folder for ProtocolA in the the shared drive.
Be mindful, that raw files are not necessary saved in the Protocol folder.
