Exporting sources from raw data + kernel

hello, i am trying to generate a matlab script that exports the Kernel file to the .mat file.

this is possible, but i get an error telling me i cannot export it as its attached to a RAW file.

technically, these are not raw files they have already been processed and were imported to brainstorm as such.

is it possible to bypass the restriction of not letting the kernel be exported?

Dear @willbanks ,

It seems that you calculate the source directly using the file review link (the Link to raw file on your picture above), so the kernel can not be exported.

There are two ways for importing data, one is Review raw file, and the other is import MEG/EEG. In this case, you should first select that Link to raw file, import MEG/EEG: time, and calculate the source using the imported file, then the kernel can be exported without any error.

Hope this helps,

Jiameng

@willbanks, this option is disabled by default as usually raw files very long thus the lead to extremely large source files. I'll take a look to add this option on raw files when their size leads tos source files of reasonable size.

As mentioned by @xqptw, you can import first the raw file, just be mindful that if the imported file is too large (channel- and time-wise) it can result in issues due to insufficient RAM.

thanks for your response, that makes sense. as a work-around I wrote a script that copy and pastes the file from the brainstorm directory into my working directory. thank you!
