I am reading the code through process_canoltymap.m file to better understand the chirplet function and how it is implemented.
Mentioned here is that Canolty maps are obtained around the low-frequency troughs.
However, when I look into the m-file here, it appears that low-frequency (theta) peaks are extracted than troughs.
Thanks for reporting. peaks/troughs in source time series are ambiguously interchangeable, due to several factors, such as the default orientation of cortical currents (in Brainstorm: outwards the cortical surface). At the end of the day, what matters is presence/absence of phase-amplitude coupling at some phase of the low-frequency cycle, which the Canolty maps should reveal.
