Smoothing before or after projection

Hello Brainstorm users,

This seems to be a common question, but I am still a bit confused as to the order of spatial smoothing and projection to a template brain. In the online documentation, the smoothing appears at the very end, after projection. https://neuroimage.usc.edu/brainstorm/Tutorials/Workflows#Average:_Group_analysis

However, in the forum, I found a few postings where it is strongly recommend to do smoothing at the individual subject level, before projecting to a group anatomy. As in here: Spatial smoothing.

Which one is correct? Thanks!

The forum post you referenced is from early 2014, the Workflows tutorial from late 2016, after discussing with all the researchers involved in the Brainstorm development.
